Human remains found in south Tulsa storm water system

Body parts discovered near 81st and Lewis

Human remains found in a storm water drain near 81st and Lewis are likely related to a skully found late last month by the River Spirit Casino.

City of Tulsa workers were walking the drainage pipe looking for the remains after police developed a theory that the skull and bones had come out of the spillway near the Arkansas River.

Tulsa Homicide Detective Dave Walker confirmed to KRMG News the body looks to be that of a white or Hispanic man between 30 to 50-years-old.

The legs were discovered wrapped in carpet to the south of the Walmart store at 81st and Lewis.

It's estimated the remains have been in the area for 6 months to a year.

City workers at the scene said they've found evidence of people living in the storm water drains.

Police pulled out a large number of shopping carts, baskets, and other debris from the area where the body was found Wednesday.
