Highway Patrol releases name of Trooper who shot and killed suspect

28-year-old Trooper Bobby Raines shot 33-year-old Tel Levi Rodgers of Claremore

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified 28-year-old Bobby Raines of Sapulpa as the Trooper involved in a fatal shooting over the weekend.

Investigators tell KRMG that Raines shot and killed 33-year-old Tel Levi Rodgers of Claremore during a traffic stop Saturday at 32nd West Avenue near 61st Street South in Tulsa.

KRMG has learned that Rogers tried to grab Raines' gun. Raines is believed to have shot Rogers in self defense.

He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the results of an internal investigation.

Raines has been a State Trooper with Oklahoma Highway Patrol for one year and six months.
