High fire danger today, burn ban remains for several counties

Pawnee County is the closest to Tulsa still under a burn ban

Dry and windy conditions return this week, which means that fire danger is extremely high.

“The highest fire danger is west of Tulsa where the winds could gust up to 40 miles per hour.” FOX23 Chief Meteorologist James Aydelott says.

There are 36 counties in Oklahoma that are still under a burn ban. Outdoor grilling is allowed under certain conditions, but a fire resulting from cooking is still illegal.

The burn bans in Central and Western Oklahoma were all issued by executive order from Governor Mary Fallin.
