The dog nosed out the girls scent despite the fact she was in a plastic bag inside a garbage bin.
That’s only the first part of the story. The dog, a Thai male Bangkaew breed named Pui, then carried the bag to his owner’s house and barked to get his attention.
The owner’s young niece heard Pui first. She opened the bag to discover the baby and quickly told her uncle.
Doctors think the baby was premature, probably about seven and a half months at birth.
Indonesian police told the Bangkok Post the baby weighed 4 lbs. 13 oz. and required hospitalization after being found.
While officials look for the child’s mother Pui’s owner is a little richer. The man got a $327 reward after the dog finding the infant.
