Heir to Anheuser-Busch fortune leaves NRA over what he calls "distorted values"

Adolphus A. Busch IV resigns NRA membership

In the letter Adolphus A. Busch IV said the NRA has distorted values and cited their opposition to background checks as the biggest reasons for his withdrawal.

Busch wrote “it disturbs me greatly to see this rigid new direction of the NRA.”

He continued "was it not the NRA position to support background checks when Mr. LaPierre last week the Senate defeated a measure that would have expanded background checks for gun purchases.

The Senate disagreed with Busch’s stand last week, voting down a measure to expand background checks.

Busch also said “I am simply unable to comprehend how assault weapons and large capacity magazines have a role in your vision.”

Busch says he is still a big supporter of gun rights as well as an avid hunter.

Busch sent the letter to KSDK in St. Louis, read it here.
