Don't bother trying to make any predictions about what the summer will be like, based on the heat this week.
Even the meteorologists, after studying all their computer models and all their data, are calling their best effort an educated "we don't know".
"We've looked and there's nothing out there that really tilts the odds one way or the other to give us an idea, so right now it's pretty much an equal chance of above, near, or below normal precipitation for the summer," said Nicole McGavock at the National Weather Service.
"The sun's energy will go into helping evaporate the water," she said. "Just the sun's energy's not baking the ground like it was doing this time last year."
In the short term though, she says all the rain we've gotten will help take the edge of this week's heat.
She said historically, a cool spring has not primarily translated into a cool summer, but she says it hasn't resulted in a hot one the majority of the time either.
