Grass fire sparked by unfortunate squirrel

A grass fire in Edmond yesterday burned 2-acres of land and it may have been started by a squirrel.

Firefighters on the scene said they didn’t see any of the usual causes of fire, like tossed out cigarettes.

Crews say they think a squirrel may have been climbing on a power pole and got burned on the electric line. The squirrel would have then fallen to the ground spreading the fire to the grass.

As for the squirrel, he was no so fortunate.

Luckily, no homes or businesses were damaged.
