GRAPHIC: City posting morgue pictures online in hopes of finding families

Goal is to identify more bodies

It’s already worked at least once.

A mother and father from Michigan found their daughter, she had been missing for a year.

The experiment is happening in Cook County Illinois and the man behind it is Cook County Medical Examiner Dr. Stephen Cina.
Cina hopes to be able to use pictures of unidentified bodies using tattoos and other identifying marks but he admits there may be times that things get more graphic.

WARNING: The website has pictures of bodies.

""It's worth it to reunite some families" he said. Cina and others believe the program may help bodies get claimed and bring some peace to families who have been searching for weeks, months, or years.

Around the nation several other ME offices are watching closely to see how well the new system works.
