Government shutdown helps lower gas prices

Gasoline prices are already well below three dollars per gallon here in Tulsa, and we're not alone.

GasBuddy.com says drivers in Lubbock, Texas and St. Louis, Missouri are also enjoying the unexpected plunge in prices.

The website says by Thanksgiving, 33 states could have gas below 3 bucks.

"There's concern about an economic slowdown.  That could result in less consumption of gasoline, and that's also putting downward pressure on prices," said GasBuddy's Patrick Dehaan.

They say crude oil supply is good, the Middle East is relatively quiet, and - believe it or not - even the government shutdown is helping.
