Golf course worker finds, returns $36,000 in lost cash

Bartender says it was the right thing to do

Rachel Castillo found a bag at the golf course she works at and didn’t think much of it.

But when she looked inside the bag she found more than golf balls and tees, she found $36,000 in cash.

Castillo told WSVN it was "kinda like stack after stack."

She called police who did some searching and found the cash belongs to a 76 year old man who now lives in assisted care and whose health is getting worse all the time.

The course bartender found an ID in the bag too but the attempts to reach him confirmed he was no longer living at the address listed.

Police verified that the money belongs to the gentleman and they say he will get it back.

When asked about returning the money Castillo said “I believe in the Bible, I'm a Christian, and the Bible says, 'Do not steal, do not lie,' you know, all these things, and if you do what's right, if you live the right way, you'll be taken care of. I believe I'll be taken care of if you do what's right."
