Gas price war in midtown Tulsa means consumers win

Two stations are battling it out, with prices of $3.09.9 a gallon

A Conoco gas station owner in midtown Tulsa has triggered a little price war with a nearby rival, and he's not shy about his motives.

KRMG spoke with Ahsan Khan, who operates the Conoco station at 1701 E. 15h Street (15th and Utica).

We asked why he had lowered his gas price to $3.09.9 a gallon.

Moreover, the strategy is working for him.

"Because of our rival, QuikTrip," he said.

"Yeah, it's working. A lot of people come for gas here," he said, adding "You know, people come for gas, they come do shopping inside as well."

His deal is for cash customers only; the price for someone who wants to use a credit card is $3.25.9.

The closest QuikTrip, at 11th and Utica, has responded.

KRMG reached the store by phone, and they confirmed their price is also $3.09.9 per gallon, and that price is good for credit card as well as cash customers.

When KRMG told Khan ab0ut QuikTrip matching his price, he chuckled.

"Well, we'll have to see what we can do," he said.
