Garth Brooks lets "Andy" know the opening date first

Oklahoma native Garth Brooks announced Thursday in his press conference that he would be releasing a new album with Sony this year and that he planned on announcing the city of his first concert to someone special.

Brooks told a story that at his most recent New Year’s Eve concert in Las Vegas, “A kid named Andy from Atlanta asked, ‘What’s the opening city of the tour?’ I told Andy if you want to, leave your information here and I’ll call you on July 14 and tell you the first city. What Andy chooses to do with that information is up to him, and shortly after we’ll make our announcement.”

Well Brooks held true to his word, and let Andy know today at 4:30 pm EST that the first city of his 3 year tour around the world will be Chicago.

Brooks also added that the ticket prices will be reasonable for everyone who wants to attend a show. “I know exactly what the ticket price will be,” he said, glancing at his handlers to see if he could unveil the tidbit. “But…you will know in the next 10 days! I’ve gotta tell you, I’m very proud of the ticket price.”

The announcement was published on Andy's twitter about an hour later.

We can only hope that Tulsa will be a stop on Brooks tour. Rumors that he will announce more dates tomorrow on his website.
