Four star general to visit Oklahoma on Tuesday

The Oklahoma National Guard announced on Monday that the Chief of the National Guard, Gen. Frank J. Grass, will visit Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 to thank Oklahoma National Guardsmen for their hard work in the wake of the May 20, 2013 tornado.

Governor Mary Fallin will join Grass for a portion of his visit after a foot tour of the Plaza Towers neighborhood.  The visit will include a brief question and answer session with local media, which is currently scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m. at Plaza Tower Elementary.

Grass serves as the 27th Chief of the National Guard Bureau and is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  He serves as a military adviser to the President, Secretary of Defense, National Security Council and is the Department of Defense's official channel of communication to the Governors and State Adjutants General on all matters pertaining to the National Guard. He is responsible for ensuring that the more than 470,000 Army and Air National Guard personnel are accessible, capable and ready to protect the homeland and to provide combat resources to the Army and Air Force.
