Sayre, Okla. — A former Tulsa County reserve deputy has been released from prison.
76-year-old Robert Bates shot Eric Harris two years ago after Bates grabbed his handgun instead of his Taser during a traffic stop.
Bates was convicted of second degree manslaughter last year and was sentenced to four years in prison.
Harris' family intends to file a civil rights case involving Bates.
Documents from the Oklahoma State Department of Corrections show Bates has accumulated enough time for good behavior and other credits to gain the early release.
