Fire guts small home in north Tulsa

The house was a rental, someone was in the process of moving in

Fire gutted a small home in north Tulsa early Tuesday, but no one was hurt because the renter hadn't moved in yet.

TFD got the call and arrived at the home in the 800 block of N. Florence Ave. near Harvard and Independence about 7:30 a.m.

They quickly attacked the fire, and the exterior of the structure remains largely intact.

George Nelson, the homeowner, told KRMG at the scene that he had just rented the house to someone and thought they were moving in over the weekend, but all they had done so far was move in a couple of pieces of furniture.

The interior, however, suffered significant damage and the few contents of the home were destroyed.

The fire appeared to begin in the central part of the home, near the floor furnace.

That, and the thermostat, are the subjects of the investigation into the cause of the fire.

Nelson said he had hired a contractor to come inspect the home and light the floor furnace.

No one was hurt.
