Felon accidentally gets himself into trouble

When you're a felon, it's probably a good idea not to have any weapons in your home when you call law enforcement officials.

Tulsa deputies say they received a domestic with a firearm call Wednesday morning in west Tulsa.

When they arrived at the scene, they encountered Daniel Chovanec.  He quickly informed deputies there was no domestic incident.

Deputies say they informed him it was illegal to make a call reporting a false crime.  They then entered the home and found a woman, who confirmed there was a gun inside the house.

Instead, he told deputies he had made the call to get them to the scene for a different reason.  Chovanec wanted them to stand guard, while he retrieved his items from a house.

She also stated Chovanec had been living in the home containing a gun, for a long time.

Instead of retrieving his property, Chovanec was arrested on counts of false crime reporting, and possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.
