The man they call Big Papi let it fly when as he addressed the crowd before the Red Sox took on the Kansas City Royals on Saturday.
Ortiz said “this is our f****** city and nobody’s going to dictate our freedom.”
The big problem could have come from the fact the f-bomb went to a national audience on television but the head of the FCC waved off the issue.
The Federal Communications Commission has a policy on what are termed fleeting expletives.
Using his Twitter account to respond FCC chairman Julius Genachowski commented "David Ortiz spoke from the heart at today’s Red Sox game. I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston."
That policy has changed since 2010 when a court ruled that fining a single, non-literal use of an expletive during a live broadcast is unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court agreed last June calling the FCC standards vague.
Either way it seems this time, we all agree with Big Papi.
