False email sent regarding water emergency in Broken Arrow

A typographical error in a date entered into a City of Broken Arrow email notification system led to a false report of a major water line break in that city Monday morning.

Acting Communications Director Norm Stephens tells KRMG a worker put an incorrect date into the email system during the actual emergency, which occurred two weeks ago when a 24-inch main broke near the intersection of Lynn Lane and E. 71st St.

A local TV station issued its own email reporting the break, but later corrected its story to explain the error.

Broken Arrow did suffer from two water emergencies in a month, but the city says all systems are currently functioning at full capacity.
