Execution set for tonight in McAlester

The state will execute a man convicted in a 1999 rampage that left three people dead in three different states, including a Tulsa woman.

Steven Ray Thacker is set for execution tonight at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. The 42-year-old waived his right to a clemency hearing, indicating he wouldn't try to stop the planned execution.

Authorities say Thacker raped and killed 25-year-old Laci Dawn Hill in December of 1999. Thacker then he killed 24-year-old Forrest Reed Boyd in Missouri on Jan. 1, 2000, and 52-year-old Ray Patterson in Tennessee the following day.

The attorney general's office says relatives of all three victims are expected to attend Thacker's execution.

Thacker received a separate death sentence for Patterson's death.
