Escapee gets a short taste of freedom

It didn't take long for a McAlester state prison inmate to be recaptured Saturday morning.

Correction officers say 51-year-old Mark Thompson walked away from work duty around 3:30 a.m.

He didn't get very far.  Thompson was recaptured around 6 a.m, only a few miles away.

Thompson would have been released in May of 2017.  With his new escape charge, his time in jail will now be longer.

He's serving a four-year sentence for a Tulsa County burglary conviction.
