The mother and her four-year-old daughter were searching all over for chocolate eggs when she noticed a rancid smell coming from under a porch attached to the house.
When she checked it out she was horrified to find the remains of a "middle-aged man."
WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee reports the mother had caught a whiff of something unsavory in the past, but she wasn't able to identify the source. Initial tests were not performed in the field because of how badly decomposed the body was.
They think the man may have crawled into the space and died from a medical condition.
Further investigation found the man had been dead for two weeks. Police describe the man as about 5’4, 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
The death has been ruled to have been from "natural causes."
Cops say the dead man doesn’t match the description of any missing people, leaving them scratching their heads as to his identity.
