Eagles being trained to take down drones

Called a low tech solution to a high tech problem

The concern over small drones continues as the unmanned craft fly in places where they are not allowed.

The Mirror reports one example is a drone that, “narrowly missed a plane flying above the Houses of Parliament in London.”

Guard From Above founder and CEO Sjoerd Hoogendoorn told The Dutch News use of the birds “is more obvious than it seems.” Hoogendorn calls the animals “an effective solution to a new threat.”

Project spokesman Marc Wiebes confirmed the company plans to develop armor to prevent injury to the birds. Check it out in the Dutch language video below.

Hoogendoorn explained the large predators “sees the drone as its prey and takes it away to a safe place where there are no other birds or people.” Video shows a an eagle chasing and easily snatching a DJI Phantom from the air before taking the drone to the ground.
