Drought continues despite recent rainfall

Bring on the rain

Drought conditions in Oklahoma are continuing despite recent rains across parts of the state.

The U.S. Drought Monitor released Thursday shows the southwestern corner of the state still in exceptional drought — the most severe category. The western quarter of the state is severe to extreme drought.

Only a small area of southeastern Oklahoma is not in drought conditions while the remainder of the state ranges from abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions.

The Oklahoma Climatological Survey said the latest April through June weather outlook offers no clues as to the amount of rain the state can expect to receive during the spring months.
