Dollar General store in west Tulsa scene of armed robbery

Money taken from store's safe, employees made to lie on floor

Two masked men wearing black clothing and armed with a gun robbed a Dollar General Store at closing time last night.

The store at 1419 West 51st Street in Tulsa was robbed and police were called at 10:17 p.m. Sunday.

That was after the suspects tossed a cinder block through the glass front door of the business and came inside where two employees were preparing to leave the business for the day.

The loss was an undetermined amount of cash from the safe.

Tulsa Police Sergeant Gary Otterstrom tells us, "They forced the two employees down on the floor next to the registers up front then emptied the safe of cash and then fled on foot eastbound and then back behind the store."

"The suspects are described as two black males wearing black hoodies. Both were wearing black ski masks, they had blue jeans on and one of them was armed with a small handgun."

A police dog tracked the suspects to where they apparently had a getaway car waiting.
