Dogs shot during attack on child

BROKEN ARROW, Okla — Broken Arrow police say a 7-year-old girl was attacked by Pit Bulls while waiting for the school bus Friday morning near Albany and 193rd E. Ave.

Police were called to the scene about 8:45 after they believe the three dogs were able to get a glass  door open at their house.

One of those dogs bit the child. Another dog tried to bite the girl.

She was taken to a Tulsa hospital to be treated for injuries.

Several people in the area were able to rescue the girl during the attack.

A nearby resident shot both of the dogs, killing one.

The wounded dog was transported to the Broken Arrow Animal Shelter by Broken Arrow Animal Control and later euthanized due to the injuries received from the gun shot.

The third dog was surrendered to the animal shelter and is currently being quarantined.

The owner of the dogs was cited for animal at large, failure to secure a vicious animal, and no rabies vaccination.
