Volunteers with the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals are holding an event this weekend to find good homes for dogs that still haven’t been claimed by their owners after last month’s grassfires.
Jamee Suarez-Howard, president of the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, says, "A lot of these animals, people called and said they came up on their property."
Suarez says many of the dogs and cats had burns on their paws.
Some were so burned their owners didn't want them back.
“So, they were not in good shape. Plus, they were sad and scared and just needed some tender loving care.”

Veterinarians at the Animals Emergency Center worked to bring the dogs back to good health.
They even did it free of charge.
“It just gave me chills. It’s so kind you know.”
The adoption is on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the 34th annual Brush Creek Bazaar.
The location is 109th and Louisville.
Some of the dogs up for adoption are Lollie the Basset Hound, Rosie the Shar Pei, and Scrimble who is a Labrador Retriever mix.
There are also three dachshunds.
All of the dogs adopted on Saturday will be spayed or neutered and will receive a microchip so they will never again be lost.
The cost for adoption is $50.
Also at the event will be the German Shepherd Rescue who will have some dogs available for adoption.
