It all started when Nekisia Davis asked her daughter to fly from Texas to New York to watch her dog while she was on vacation.
Part of the job for Cheryl Thorpe was to move around several parked cars from time to time so they didn’t violate city laws.
Thorpe was given keys to the cars, one of which was a green Honda. When she went to move that car around the block, hilarity ensued.
However, when Davis came home, she realized the Honda was parked in the same place it had been days earlier.
Thorpe moved the car and thought nothing more of it.
You guessed it. She moved the wrong car.
Another older model green Honda was on the same street, and the Davis’ key unlocked and started the vehicle.
The owner of the car that was moved found surveillance video of a woman she didn’t know “taking” her car.
"In less than 40 seconds she gets in the car and goes," Emily Hickert told The New York Post. "I thought she was a professional."
The situation was resolved when Davis saw a flyer about the car posted in the area.
She responded by saying, "I didn't steal your car, but I think my mom may have. It's a long story. I'll explain, but your car is safe and sound."
