1 dead after early morning shooting near downtown Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — A man is dead after an early morning shooting near downtown Tulsa.

According to police, an employee at a construction site on 13th Street just west of Highway 75 was sitting in his truck when a man attacked him with a piece of rebar.

The employee shot the man and called police. Officers found the man dead from gunshot wounds.

This is the 55th homicide in Tulsa this year.

Homicide detectives said the construction worker cooperated with police. He was questioned and released pending further investigation.
