Cracker Barrel waitress calls $6,000 tip a 'gift from God'

18-year-old will use money for tuition

When the hostess told the men there was no one grumpy on staff they gave them Abigail Sailors, a woman they said was the happiest person there.

At the end of the meal Abigail was thrilled to discover a crisp $100 bill as a tip.

Abigail was a foster child after her parents were badly hurt in a car accident. Sailor and her five brothers and sisters were trapped in an abusive foster home before she and a sisters moved back in with her father.

But then she couldn’t believe it when she found another $6,000 in checks on the table.

Sailors is a favorite at the restaurant where regulars know her story.

Not long after, her dad was arrested for abuse.

Abigail then found a foster family she says saved her. "I don’t know how I would have turned out if I didn’t have them, they shaped the person I am today," she proclaimed.

But now Abigail is working her way toward a degree in youth ministry and psychology at Trinity Bible College in North Dakota.

When she told the men she had put classes on hold due to a lack of money, they stepped up.

One left the $100 and the other left a check for $5,000 for tuition and another $1,000 for whatever she might need.

"I couldn't believe it," Abigail told the Journalstar.com "I tried to thank them, and they said, 'Thank God.'"
