COVID-19 vaccines arrive in nursing homes

Phase two of the vaccination plan could begin next week

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and Oklahoma Health Commissioner Dr. Lance Frye held a news conference Tuesday at a nursing home in Oklahoma City where a worker and resident received the vaccine.

Dr. Frye says the vaccine started to arrive in nursing homes across Oklahoma on Monday.

He expects nearly 175,000 high-risk Oklahomans to be vaccinated by the end of the year.

State health leaders say more than 6,000 people have died in nursing home due to the virus.
