TULSA — Vaccinations for teachers and staff members across Oklahoma began on Monday, with appointments scheduled throughout the week.
Chuck McCauley, superintendent of Bartlesville Public Schools, found out last Friday that more than 300 of their teachers and staff would be able to receive the vaccine Monday morning.
Acting quickly, the Bartlesville school district switched to distance learning for Monday so that they could get their staff vaccinated and welcome their students back to the classroom on Tuesday.
The Broken Arrow school district announced they will have 1,400 vaccines available to any teacher or staff member who still needs to receive the vaccine. 150 employees in the district age 65 and over, along with all health staff, have already received their second and final vaccination.
Broken Arrow Public Schools will be switching back to distance learning Thursday and Friday so teachers and staff who have yet to receive their first dose of the vaccine can attend their appointments.
Due to the severe winter weather that recently rolled through Oklahoma and beyond, vaccines for other Tulsa-area schools have been delayed.
