Cops live tweeting prostitution sting

Customers are the real target

Cops use words like "progressive" and "unprecedented" when describing the tactic.

"We won't tell you when or where, other than that it's somewhere in the county next week," the department said.

This operation is not out to get the working girls. They're after their customers. Once the johns are booked, their names and photos will be front and center on the Prince George's County Police Departments Twitter feed.

Not everyone thinks this is a good idea. Wire says Bethesda attorney Bradley Shear thinks this is a "legal liability time bomb" for cops.

The bank trust department's blog says the announced the sting beforehand to “warn any potential participants that this type of criminal behavior is not welcome.”

Hackers are already working to spoil the operation by breaking into the #PGPDVice hashtag police are using.
