Company makes bulletproof whiteboards for teachers

Great idea or a gimmick?

With the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown still fresh in people's minds, a Maryland-based company called Hardwire LLC is making and marketing a bulletproof, handheld whiteboard that teachers can use to try to block gunfire in the event a school-intruder starts shooting.

We asked Tulsa Public Schools' Chris Payne if it's something that the district might consider, but he sounded skeptical.

According to some reports though, several school districts around the country have been purchasing the 18X20 inch whiteboards, which sell for about $300 apiece.

"I mean unless this is something that can be ripped off the wall and used like Captain America's shield or something, I don't understand why that would be a key feature," Payne said.
