Sand Springs Emergency Management along with the Sand Springs Police Department is encouraging everyone in town to register their storm shelters.
Assistant Police Chief Mike Carter tells KRMG that the free service will allow quicker rescue response in the event of a tornado.
Carter says the list will only be used for rescue activities, and will not be used for commercial marketing or other non-emergency related purposes.
In Broken Arrow, city officials confirm that Broken Arrow do not require residents to register their storm shelters.

BA spokesperson Stephanie Higgins tells KRMG that recently installed shelters are automatically entered into BA's database if the installer of the shelter follows the proper permitting process.
Broken Arrow residents can call (918) 259-8333 or go to http://www.brokenarrowok.gov/forms.aspx?fid=72 to check on their registration status.
Tulsa has been registering safe rooms since 1999.
City spokesperson Michelle Allen says that, more than a year ago, Tulsa has been working to register existing safe rooms in the 911 system so emergency responders will have that information as well.
