Citizen helps police catch QuikTrip armed robber

A citizen is receiving the credit Sunday morning for helping officers catch an armed robber.

Tulsa police say everything started at a QuikTrip on Gilcrease Museum Road, around 1:10 a.m.

A man walked inside the store, implied he had a gun, and exited with cash and cigarettes.

Less than 20 minutes later, police received another armed robbery call.  This time, the QT near Admiral and Garnett had been robbed.

Police say he got into a van with a driver and fled the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect from the previous QT robbery was still there.

Police say the suspect had walked into the store, implied he had a gun, and once again tried to leave with cash and cigarettes.

This time, a citizen stopped him once he left the store.  Police say the citizen held the suspect until officers arrived.

He was arrested for both armed robberies.

His getaway vehicle turned out to be a taxi.  The driver was taken into custody for questioning.

As of early Sunday morning, the names of the suspect and citizen haven't been released.
