Car washes packed with customers after Thursday's dust storm

Friday would be a great day to be owner of a car wash after Thursday's dust storm.

Maybe not such a great day to be a worker at one.

The Mr. Klean Car Wash at 71st and Sheridan was jammed with customers from the time their doors opened Friday morning.

One customer said it looked like someone had take a big handful of dirt and dumped it on his car.

"I figured we'd be busy, but not from the time we opened, ALL day," said Mr. Klean manager Katie Short.

"My wife said it was time to wash the car," he said.

Another customer said he was surprised at the extent of the dust and dirt after the storm.

"It was pretty crazy," he said.

But after hearing what happened during the blackout conditions on I-35, he said a dirty car is better than a wrecked car.

"It was a little bit worse out west from what I heard," he said.
