Broken Arrow police, neighborhood watching for speeders

Broken Arrow, Okla. — The Leisure Park neighborhood in Broken Arrow is complaining about speeders.

They are working with police to enforce the 25 miles per hour speed limit, but vioilators have been a problem for five years.

Stephen Winston said, “They came through here (at) about 40-50 miles an hour and we yelled at them to stop and they gave us a old “California howdy” and stepped on it and sped up and kept on going.”

The city could install speed humps if 75% of the neighborhood would sign a petition to make that happen.

A witness tells us a white Jeep Cherokee with four teenagers inside was the latest violator last weekend, but the problem has been going on for five years.

Police say to call Sergeant Hurst and join the city's Traffic Calming Program at 918-451-8200 extension 8080.
