A south Tulsa restaurant known for its family atmosphere, great burgers and fried pickles will shut its doors for the last time Friday night.
The owners, Rob and Lydia Robbins, let their customers know through their Facebook page, and say the outpouring of support is so moving they can't even read the page right now.
They plan to stay open until 10:00 p.m. Friday, unless they run out of food first, which is a possibility -- they've had a major run as news they were closing spread.
Asked why they were closing, Robbins said a combination of a slow economy and an overwhelming amount of work finally forced their hand after five years in business.
"Packed house," Lydia told KRMG late Friday morning. "I mean, we already have a table and we're not even open for 20 minutes."
"It's just a mom and pop shop. I mean, we do all the work ourselves, and we have an awesome crew, but it's a lot of work... it's a lot of work. So it's time to do something else."
Asked about what's next, she said "we don't know yet."
"We're just trying to get through today," she added, "make the best food we can on the last day, and say 'thanks' to all the customers."
