An armed mental patient is in custody after pointing a gun at his sister and her infant.

Police tell KRMG that the man, identified as James Michale Koman, was arrested near 13th and Harvard shortly before 1 P.M.

The incident started about 11:45 A.M. when Koman was riding in a car with his sister and her infant.

Komen followed them into the store then fled across the street to St. John Medical Center where he attempted to admit himself as a mental patient.

Investigators say Koman pointed a gun and the pair at which point, mother and child fled into a store at Utica Square.

He was unsuccessful and left the hospital.

About an hour later, Koman was captured.

Police say both Cascia Hall school and St. John Medical Center were both briefly on lockdown.

Officers are still searching for two or three guns that Koman was believed to have had.

Those guns were not in his possession when he was arrested.
