Body of teacher found in woods, 14 year old charged with murder

Student picked up walking down road

Cops found the body of math teacher Colleen Ritzer in the woods behind the school late Tuesday night.

Ritzer was first reported missing around 11:20 Tuesday night. When investigators went to the school where the math teacher worked they found blood covering a bathroom on the second floor.

That led to an all-out search and eventual discovery of Ritzer’s body in the trees behind the school.

The boy was a student of Ritzer’s and had also been reported missing when he didn’t come home from school Tuesday.

The Boston Globe reports just minute later a 14 year old boy was picked up walking along the road not far away.

The teenager will be charged with murder and will have an arraigned sometime Wednesday.

Students and teachers at Danvers High school are shocked.

"We are all terrified," one told WBZ. "No one will ever look at this school the same way."

School workers began trying to alert parents that school would be closed on Wednesday.
