Tulsa's Blue Dome Arts Festival celebrates its tenth year beginning today in its historic home on the east side of downtown.
Michael Sager, owner of the iconic Blue Dome and the driving force behind the festival, tells KRMG this year's festival offers more than ever before.
"We've got the local food trucks making their first big appearance here, I think we've got 12 or 14 of them, of course the great contingent of the belly dance group and all the dancers around town, 240 artists from the simplest to the most complex," Sager says.
As always, the focus at Blue Dome is on local area art, crafts, and music.
He said the festival will also offer 23 musical acts.
And while it goes off the same weekend as Mayfest each year, Sager says Blue Dome doesn't compete, but rather complements the older festival.
"We absolutely do not compete. We're very respectful of Mayfest, and appreciate what they've done."
Attendees can use pedicabs or their feet to get back and forth between the two festivals, they're not very far apart.
Admission to Blue Dome Arts Festival is free, and pets are welcome if leashed.
Kids will find plenty to see and do as well, so organizers encourage parents to bring them downtown.
