Bixby's Conrad Farms to close, sell off land

A family-owned business that has lasted for decades in Bixby will soon shut down and offer some 400 acres of land for sale.

Conrad Farms began in the 1930s, and the family has stayed in business for generations.

The brothers who own and operate the farms today, Vernon, Eugene, and Melvin Conrad, plan to sell their farm and market and retire, effective October.

The Conrads have already begun selling off some of their farm equipment, and plan to complete the process by the end of the harvest season this fall.

The market opened for business in 1974, and has become a staple source of fresh produce for many families in the area.

Developers have long eyed the land near E. 151st St. and S. Memorial, as the community of Bixby has grown significantly in recent years.
