Billboard with Superman, Batman and Hitler criticized

Art students say they were honoring graduates

The billboard was painted by art students and they say it was meant to honor the outgoing senior class.

But many who saw Superman, Batman, Captain America, and the Hulk alongside Adolph Hitler were not amused.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper with the Simon Wiesenthal Center asked “Hitler as a superhero?” Is he an appropriate role model for Thailand’s younger generation, a genocidal hate monger who mass murdered Jews and Gypsies and who considered people of color as racially inferior?”

"(We) would like to formally express our sincere apology for our students' 'Superhero' mural," art school dean Suppakorn Disatapundhu said in a statement issued Monday. "I can assure you we are taking this matter very seriously."

The billboard appeared near Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University and was taken down after a couple of days.
