Bill on abortion for minors passes in Oklahoma house

The Oklahoma House of Representatives has passed a bill that will make it more difficult for a minor to get an abortion in the state without parental consent.

Oklahoma law had already required minors to wait 48 hours for an abortion unless they had a judge's consent, or in the event of a medical emergency.

The new guidelines will specify more precisely how parental consent forms would be worded, and how a judge should decide whether a minor is capable of making an informed decision on abortion.

The bill now goes to Gov. Mary Fallin for final approval.

The Senate had put some amendments into the measure, which the House passed Tuesday by a vote of 82-5 without debate.
