Batman’s Commissioner Gordon gets his own show

Will air on FOX in the 2014-2015 season

The Fox network says it's ordering a series that takes a look at the early career of Commissioner James Gordon.

Warner Bros. Television said that the show will be called "Gotham" and will also include never before told tales of other villains and will introduce a new character, Fish Mooney.

Jada Pinkett Smith will play Mooney, with Ben McKenzie starring as Gordon during his early years as a detective. Donal Logue will play detective Harvey Bullock and David Mazouz will play young Bruce Wayne, before he was Batman.

Then network says "Gotham" will be directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the “CSI” series, “Nikita”).

FOX hasn’t released an air date, but a Warner Bros. spokesman says "Gotham" is planned for the 2014-15 season.
