BAPD mourns loss of long-time dispatcher to COVID

David Weisberg had worked as an emergency dispatcher in Broken Arrow for 22 years

BROKEN ARROW, OK — Broken Arrow police confirmed Thursday that they had lost one of their own to the pandemic.

David Weisberg was a 22-year veteran of the police department, where he served as an emergency dispatcher.

BAPD spokesman Ofcr. Chris Walker tells KRMG he was well known in the community, as a longtime member of the local Elks as well as a volunteer for the Special Olympics.

“He was our unofficial historian,” Walker told KRMG Thursday. “He collected all the newspaper articles that just barely even mentioned Broken Arrow police... and all the other ones as well.”

He also spent a lot of time documenting the activities of BAPD.

“Dave was a good man,” Walker added. “That’s the easiest way to explain it.”
