Attempt to overturn Oklahoma ‘Open Carry’ law

OKC, Okla. — State lawmakers are working with gun safety advocates in an attempt to overturn the new Oklahoma law allowing open-carry without a background check or training.

Constitutional Carry was the first bill Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed.

Representative Jason Lowe, a Democrat from Oklahoma City, announced plans Monday for a petition to allow voters a chance to overturn the law that is set to go into effect November First.

Supporters of the repeal will need to gather 60,000 signatures before the end of this month to get the question on the ballot in 2020.
