Asphalt worker killed underneath machine

TULSA — A man is dead after an asphalt machine crushed him in the parking lot of Southern Hills Marriott near 71st and Riverside.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say workers were unloading the asphalt machine when it fell on top of 59-year-old Rick Deeter.

Investigators had to bring in special equipment to remove Deeter’s body.

“He fell underneath it and the asphalt machine rolled up on top of him,” said Sgt. Shane Tuell.

The medical examiner is looking in to the exact cause of death.
