Arrest made in Glenpool kidnapping, rape case

Police holding press conference Tuesday afternoon to give more details

Police have arrested a man in connection with the January 2013 abduction and rape of a Glenpool girl.

Kevin Leroy Smith was charged in July with distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Officials say Smith gave a DNA sample and bonded out back in July. When the sample was returned in late August, it was then linked with the Glenpool case.

Glenpool and Tulsa police worked together to link the cases. Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan said at a Tuesday afternoon press conference that it is unlikely any charges will be filed in the lemonade stand case due to lack of evidence.

Once the connection was made, Smith’s bond was revoked and he was arrested. Investigators think the same man is responsible for the attempted abduction of two Tulsa girls running a lemonade stand in March 2014.

Chief Jordan said charges in the Glenpool case should be filed within a week.
