Applying for a gun license just got easier

State leaders found a way to deal with high demand

Last year, more than 60,000 Oklahomans applied for a gun license.

OSBI didn’t have enough people to deal with the enormous influx of applications.

So, the agency hired more temporary and full-time staff and added a night shift.

The OSBI recently launched the Self-Defense Act (SDA) License On-Line Application system.

Now, applications are going online to help to even further streamline the process.

Users can submit applications to renew a handgun license or get a new one.

The actual launch date of the on-line application system was January 14, 2014.

The online application can be found on the OSBI website at www.ok.gov/osbi.
